How to: Stay hydrated with 4 easy steps


Confession: I have always LOVED drinking water. But after starting my job in a corporate office that offers a free soda fountain (YUM), I found it hard not to automatically reach for a soda any time I was thirsty/bored/tired etc. (Especially since the water fountain was further away). A couple months in, I started finding that my drive to workout was shrinking and I was getting headaches when I went without caffeine. I decided I needed to make a change.

Over the past few months, I have found a few easy ways to start drinking more water at the office and now I hardly ever reach for that soda. One of the main things my friends/family ask me is how I was able to cut it out. Believe me it wasn’t easy, but these simple tricks helped.

  1. Keep water close: Simple I know. But this was huge for me. I am a very visual person so seeing the water bottle on my desk helped me remember I should be drinking it.
  1.  Add fruit:  I have found the best way to cut my sugar craving is to add fruit to my water. This is super refreshing and helps give it that sweet taste without all of the additives. My personal favorites in water are strawberries, blueberries, & lemon. (If I am feeling adventurous I add pomegranates or mint with blueberries)
  1.  Keep Track: Working out and taking a pre-workout (post coming soon) almost every day makes me crave more than the standard 8 cups a day. So I Track it. I make it my goal to reach that amount every day and reward myself at the end of the week if I do
  1. Drink water after bathroom breaks & before leaving for lunch: This was one of the easiest things for me to do. I was up already so I told myself I had no excuse to not get more to drink.

 The biggest bonus is feeling  that it has done amazing things for my skin & my overall health. This is definitely still a work in progress for me (I love my Starbucks). So I would love to hear your tips & tricks! BTW you can find my planner (I am loving it) at Target.
